out there outback Pty. Ltd. has evolved over the last decade.  I made friends with one of Alice Springs’ great identities, Jol Fleming of Direct 4wd.  Remarkably Jol, despite having spent 27 years wheelchairbound as a quadriplegic, runs 4wd training and outback tagalong tours (see www.direct4wd.com.au) capitalising on his remaining limited handuse by driving an adapted vehicle. He opened up the world of the outback and four wheel driving to me as he has done for countless others and remains a great support.

I would return to Sydney after yet another adventure and seeing more and more mindblowing territory full of enthusiasm. The outback provides me with year round inspiration for painting, although travel is limited to cooler months for comfort and safety.  Pretty soon other artists said that was all fine but when was I going to take them – so I did!

When we are not hearing wonderful Dreaming stories in an art centre, we go to fabulous landscape sites off the beaten track and paint, draw, photograph, walk or just absorb the stunning visual delights of the Outback.

Each tour provides huge enjoyment to participants and organisers - many travellers keep coming on trips year after year.  Tours were run to Arnhem Land in the Northern Territory in 2008 and 2009.  Remote South Australia was added to our  itineraries in 2009 and repeated with some streamlining in 2010 and back again by popular demand for 2011.  WA's Pilbara is the focus of an exciting new tour in 2010.  2011 will see us travelling the wonderful Kimberley Region of WA.  We look forward to adding further opportunities to explore Australia's remote beauty in out there outback's program in future years.
